… Out Like a Lion.

It’s hard to resist the urge.

‘There’s only SIX LEFT… buy them ALL!!’

No. Breathe… I can just drive back to the store tomorrow. Besides, someone else’s dog might want to eat, too.

It’s been pleasantly strange for the past few days. The shelves have been pretty well cleared, but for the most part our family’s unique tastes have been met. Two people with dairy allergies, 3 people who are mostly vegetarian, and a diabetic… but the order doesn’t go into effect until Tuesday… I guess we’ll see how long that lasts.

Even for a foggy Sunday evening, the streets between here and North Kansas City are quiet. Hy-Vee was busy. And there was an A.A. meeting in-progress next door to the laundromat on Vivian. It looked like it was a full house. But now, as I think about it, every 3rd or 4th chair was empty. Even with Social Distancing, we MUST stay connected!

Always REACH OUT if you need HELP! Do not succumb to the effects of ONE disease, just to avoid being infected by ANOTHER.

 

Everyone here in the Kansas City Metro is taking this seriously, and it looks like only a few people are out stocking up at the last minute… for the most part, people around here seem ready for what’s next. Anxious because of the unknown, but determined to do what’s needed NOW… to save lives.

Maybe we ARE strange here in the Midwest. That Bunker Mentality is drilled into us as a survival instinct from an early age. “What do you do when you hear the Civil Defense sirens? Go to the BASEMENT and wait for the All Clear.”

 

Only FOOLS ignore warnings.

 

Like trying to play chicken with a train… the train won’t budge, so you’d better MOVE.

Because there IS NO OTHER WAY. Scientifically tested, verified year after year, and practiced DAILY. The risk is just not worth it, and there is no room for error.

 

At the end of the day, we ARE in this together. After the storm passes and we come out to face the unknown, we know there’s work to do… because some people will not be as fortunate as we are. Some people will do everything necessary and STILL fall short, and some people will survive through no fault of their own.

Regardless of our individual walks of life, whether we’re rich or poor, we ALL face the same threats. When the skies open up and unleash their fury, we are all EQUAL… and we should all be grateful that we are STILL HERE.

 

 

Kansas City is a beautiful city and we are fortunate to live in such a supportive community. Stretching across TWO STATES, separated by rivers and governing philosophies, the two cities seamlessly work together in times of need to overcome challenges of all sizes. And we know we will be successful when we support each other.

 

No one succeeds without the other.

 

We may be a little rough around the edges. We may be a bit strange and stick out in a crowd. But deep down, we’re all the SAME. Trying to do better for ourselves than what came before. To make the world a better place for my kids… and yours.

When we STAND united, we can whether ANY storm.

THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE

 

If we must shelter in place, then we MUST. If we must avoid public places and start going without, then we must remember… we do so because people will die if we do not.

We must practice every act of safety recommended by our health care professionals NOW…

 

So we can be ready THIS FALL when it’s time for us to VOTE.

 

Above ALL ELSE, do not forget. Stay healthy for your FAMILY. Stay healthy for your COMMUNITY. Stay healthy for your COUNTRY and defend Democracy… make sure your voice is HEARD.

To do what is necessary, every citizen MUST be guaranteed FOOD and SHELTER.

 

No one should be evicted from their residence for the duration of 2020. Period. Security STARTS with a roof over your head. In this fight, we must protect what little we already have, and give some since of security to our CHILDREN… as financial problems destroy unity so fast.

 

The greatest threat to our National Security is a lack of FOOD. Not due to a shortage at the store, but a lack of FUNDS to feed our families. We can adjust to a new diet. We can put up with rations on staples and essentials. There is no adjusting to the pain caused by hunger as you drive past every fast food restaurant known to man.

If we are to endure the isolation prescribed for this moment, the People must be assured these BASIC THINGS. We cannot permit another fleecing of our National Treasure, as occurred in 2009, without insuring that WE are the beneficiaries.

The American People must come out of this ready to go BACK TO WORK. The bedrock of our economy is the American Middle Class… and the TAXES we pay will be bailing EVERYONE OUT. Our needs come FIRST this time. If businesses choose to participate in this endeavor, they must play by OUR RULES, and they will be rewarded for their honorable sacrifices in our time of need.

Heroes are found on the battlefield, and this war touches us all. This virus is just another battle in an already ongoing war. One fought with digital bullets, and fueled by misinformation…

 

That war ENDS this fall when we VOTE.

 

The American People can face ANY challenge when given the full faith and support of the Federal Government, and every business on EARTH prospers when the American People have money to SPEND. Our fates are inextricably linked.

We will defeat the virus. We will carry on. What that future will look like… we start building TODAY.

When we remove the fear born of uncertainty, we can start to focus on the needs of OTHERS instead of worrying about ourselves. Let us ensure we have a stable platform from which to launch our Nation’s economy, AFTER we’ve stood united and defeated this common foe.

 

The fire still burns just below the surface. A gust of WIND is all that is necessary for the embers to roar back to life!

… would you like to say a few words?

TODAY we have a CHOICE… tomorrow our decision will have been made, and our future will be sown. Our perch on history right now, whether seen as exciting or exhausting… no one can say it has NOT been amazing!

And because of the path I am on, I feel like the most IMPOTENT person on Earth. Like the guy on-deck, swinging away in the batter’s box, a front row seat no closer than THIS… none more helpless or vulnerable.

The antithesis of the pentacle, the polar opposite of everything that stands at the height of power. I sit and scribble on notebook paper words of OPPOSITION, while Men in High Office craft LEGISLATION that will destroy a family. I am searching within myself, to find some calm during this turbulent time, Our President uses the BULLY PULPIT… against us.

On my tablet, I get notifications from different apps through out my day. Uploads, comments, but also weather notifications and… I’m disturbed by a thought I had the other day. I opened my iPad, read through the list and thought, “What a relief… it’s only a Geomagnetic Storm.”

So, I’m watching… swinging away. Trying to get my timing down. CHOMPING at the bit… cliche, cliche…

I feel guilty. Unable to help, but knowing that I can…. humbled that I will. Desperate for patients, but unable to find any. Delusional to believe anyone is actually listening to a word I say. But STUBBORN and persistent. Unable to bend, as required by Our Constitutional Duty. Yes, we are all bound by the SAME OATH the Presidents take when they enter the Office, because they come from US.

We are the balance upon which EVERYTHING is weighed. And I assure you… that weight is felt.

Stand up and speak out. Use your voice to make things better in YOUR life, for the people YOU care about. Because, when you do that, you are supporting ideals a MAJORTIY of Americans support. Good and caring people still live in the Land of the Free! And when you STAND UP and defend Liberty and Justice… FOR ALL, you are NOT ALONE, here… in the Home of the Brave.

When we choose to make things better for ourselves, we make it better for everyone.together without even realizing.

So… that’s what I’ve got. That’s the pitch. It’s not magic. It’s not LIES. It’s not flashy or trendy… but, then again- That’s not up to me.🙃

Disconjoined Morals and Ramblings (pt. 1)

Today I saw a man standing on the corner of Parallel and 64th. Long hair, leathery skin, wide brimmed hat. Unlit cig in one hand, both hands shaking. Not sure if he was singing along with music or just talking loudly, alone by the traffic light. 6 cars were stopped at that light for a couple minutes. I wondered what all the other people were thinking. After a few seconds, I realized ‘There, but for the grace of god, go I…’

George Carlin once said “… the poor are there just to scare the shit outta the Middle Class.” There’s a NEW villain in town. Not foreigners, not gov’t intrusion-

When a neighbor’s house suddenly becomes empty. Then the yard doesn’t get mowed. Then a few more weeks pass. One day in the front window, CLEARLY visible as you drive your KIDS TO SCHOOL everyday, a notice of foreclosure on a neon green/yellow piece of paper. I remember them pop up everywhere in 2010-2012. How many families were shattered by that? As they creep today, I wonder who’s next.

The situation between Stormy Daniels and Donald Trump is a GREAT metaphor for how my generation has been treated by people of Mr. Trump’s generation… Screwed us over, roughed us up a little, threw some pity money at us, then walked away. Respect your elders. Elders who act RESPECTFUL shall earn mine.

Propaganda has an interesting effect on people. It makes some FORGET the facts, and others (the one’s who remember the facts) get MAD at the people who FORGOT the facts. GOOD people do GOOD things even when no one is looking.

As the climate changes, and it doesn’t go the way scientific forecasts have predicted, what will YOU do? What should Our government be doing? Why aren’t we doing more…

We have the liberty to choose the course. It is not set in stone. When we look at all the different approaches to shaping our government and making ourselves a better society, we can make the choice. All of the texts speak of the battle between good and evil, light vs. darkness, the weak vs. the powerful. The moral is always the same- good will prevail in the end. Light conquers darkness. And at some point, we must ask ourselves “Good… or evil?” Where do YOU stand?

Where DO you stand? We should ask that more often. Come together in the light. Speak freely. That’s the ONLY way this works. KNOWLEDGE will keep us ALL free.

They Can’t ALL Be Winners

I have to remember that. I keep trying to convince myself that I have to produce something profound, or revealing every time I write so that more people can understand what’s going on in my head. My head says “Tick tock! People need to know all they can so they can make an informed choice…”. Then my heart feels compelled to search itself fully, to stop my mouth from saying something that’s more emotional than thought out.

And that brings up the difference between Candidate Jack and Me. Where do these two things reside, do I NEED to do that? That is what cost Hillary Clinton the Presidency. She does have a personality, even a sense of humor. She never let that out in a genuine way. Only when she was speaking for herself did she reveal who she was. It’s only an observation, but when she spoke on behalf of her constituency she became more rigid.

HONESTY is lost as political figures search for the correct terminology in order to… be polite to those…. individuals who might be offended….. Zzzzzzz…. I will more than likely show myself to be the un-educated rube I am at some point in the next three years. A High School Graduate would be a stark contrast on a debate stage with a polished political veteran. But, as someone who would describe himself as a bit of a wonk who doesn’t mind a tip-toe through the weeds, I would hold up my end of the conversation.

After all, like everyone else, I have a stake in this. Am I someone I could allow to be President?…. I would say, with a little polish, I could see it. I guess I should remain humble, and LOUD. Hmmm…

So I will make sure to post something each day. I hope that you feel the urge to comment, as input is always welcome.
