Our individual right to vote is the foundation upon which our Nation was built. Without our FREE and FAIR elections, this Nation would no longer STAND.

ONE PARTY has shown itself to be in opposition to the Will of the MAJORITY of the American People. The OTHER PARTY… I suppose we shall see. They say they are for securing our right to vote. Their ACTIONS suggest otherwise.

The URGENCY of the Democratic Party seems LACKING for such a high priority.

The events that transpired on January 6th were not due to a swell of emotions in the moment or a wild tailgate party that got out of hand. There was a Call and Response to the madness that carried on for over FOUR YEARS.

Elections have consequences. We watched the ‘former guy’ bend the law to his Will for four years… it’s about time someone did the SAME for the American People.

The first Presidential Election in which I could vote was ‘Indecision 2000’… The Daily Show knocked it out of the PARK that year. Having cut my teeth on the Impeachment of Bill Clinton, I was excited to finally voice my opinion and participate.

I didn’t bargain for the experience that played out.

Every nuance of the different positions played out in court, from the State level to the Federal level, reported on every news outlet… it was a real-time history lesson, eclipsing the sleazy one that had played out the SAME way just a few months earlier.

Indeed… EVERY VOTE COUNTS. Vice President Al Gore lost by less than 600 votes in the Great State of Florida. 537 votes in just ONE STATE… in an election where he won the popular vote by over 500,000.

The problem was obvious. The inherent flaw in our election system could no longer be ignored. Systemic election issues in ONE STATE could disenfranchise HALF of the States in the Union. But twice now, in less than twenty years the MINORITY has decided where this Nation should STAND. By manipulating advertising DOLLARS in key swing districts, within certain demographics; through voter suppression tactics and zero-sum political campaigns… all funded by dark-money DONORS.

The Electoral College is the vulnerability. It allows the ascent of the BAD ACTOR who only seeks to further their agendas. The American People are not fooled easily, though. The BAD ACTOR cannot convince a MAJORITY of this country that they are right…

All they need is 46%.

Let there be NO DOUBT. The MAJORITY stands in the right.
Every time. We have the DATA to back that up.

But let our celebrations be SHORT LIVED. We must not forget… 100 years ago, after their pandemic, the celebrations didn’t end so well. The Roaring Twenties gave way to the 1930s… and the horrible Fashion Choices that they made.

Yes. History repeats itself… we have that data as well.

The SAME pressures that came to bear on their society, are showing themselves once again in OURS. A pandemic. Economic instability… they, too, bore witness to a Changing Climate. The Dust Bowl sent millions looking for a new life and it changed the way this nation feeds itself. HUNGRY for a way forward and starved of leadership, President Hoover thought putting people “on the Dole” was demoralizing… the thinking of a self-made MILLIONAIRE educated in the 19th century.

Welcome to the 21st Century.

We do not need to waste our TIME playing out the SAME MISTAKES. Appeasement will never bring us peace in our time… some things never change.

Where this Nation goes, so too goes the WORLD. Will we be PREPARED to lead… or are we fine with just being led.

That was the response of Senator Lindsay Graham, shortly after the lockdowns began in response to the outbreak of COVID-19… in the context of JOBS. In the context of Business Owners and the financial impact that would eventually come.

He suggested we could RESTORE… retroactively.

Putting aside the question of the saintly-hood of our Senators for a second… what was he speaking of? What glimmer of HOPE can we find within that statement… that’s IF Senator Graham was speaking in GOOD FAITH.

It seems COLD to color the situation in terms of MONEY, considering the toll taken in the lives of most people. It’s ignorant to even contemplate retroactively fixing what has been LOST… half a million from the virus, untold numbers from the dominoes that fell as our hospitals filled to capacity. There is NO amount of money that can replace that.

And it wasn’t due to a VIRUS. It was due to INACTION.
It was due to ineptitude, elevated by OUR VOTE.

As I write, I’m looking down at a freshly cleared field, tucked in next to a small tributary that feeds the Missouri River… a far cry from the crowded city streets of Manhattan or Seattle. The impact may be harder to see, but it is felt just the same.

We’ve lost LIVES. We’ve lost LIVELIHOODS, but we’ve lost more than that… we’ve lost a sense of TRUST. We’ve lost a sense of SECURITY. When lives are on the line, we call 911. We take it for granted. More people now know… that’s not always the case. We’ve lost our Innocence.

I don’t believe the American People elevate liars intentionally. We only find out AFTER they’ve risen to power that they were being less than truthful… well, with the obvious exceptions of course.

And once those liars are exposed, they eventually find themselves voted out of office, or escorted out by authorities. When crimes are committed, those who perpetrated AND participated are eventually held accountable… except for those who are NOT. Even when the evidence seems overwhelming, some people just seem to SKIRT.

Identical crimes. Identical circumstances. Wildly different outcomes.
SAME Judicial System.

The mainstream concept of Small Government Conservatism has many HOLES, considering its track record over the course of the last 40 years. Was it in the name of ‘smaller government’ that the Reagan Administration sought to arm satellites for our nuclear defense?

Was ‘Compassionate Conservatism’ at the heart of the Bush Administration’s declaration that Iraq was seeking Yellowcake Uranium? What Conservative Values were on display as Colin Powell spoke before the United Nations?

All these expenditures abroad, while they pursue a limited government approach at home by shrinking “entitlement” programs and cutting “pork barrel” projects, like building BRIDGES and ROADS… projects that would directly benefit the PEOPLE they were elected to serve.

I suppose in this context, The Gipper was RIGHT… government is the problem.

I believe in a fiscally conservative government, but I also believe the money we spend should be better managed. ONE MAN should not dictate to us our answers, the best answers are forged in the crucible of OPEN DEBATE. There is a debate to be had on the Infrastructure Package being proposed, but there currently is NO DEBATE being had… ONE SIDE doesn’t want to participate.

They simply stand OPPOSED.

Farmers in RED STATES need those FUNDS just as much as farmers in BLUE STATES. Their elected officials are letting them down by not engaging on their behalf.

Doing nothing is not ‘Smaller Government’… it’s OPPRESSIVE Government. Cutting benefits for those who need them most isn’t fiscally conservative, it’s passing the BUCK. It’s dodging responsibility, shifting the burden onto someone ELSE. It’s kind of like virtue signaling, but it’s a bit different… you just have to put 2 and 2 together.

Can these issues be SOLVED with FACTS and DATA? Will they ever be resolved if we constantly retreat into our political corners… where has that led us so far?

If we allow our passions to rule the day, we miss out on the CHANCE to find KNOWLEDGE. By painting it as either RED or BLUE we cannot find the subtlety necessary to establish COMMON GROUND… to achieve the goals we ALL wish to see.

The experiment was conceived to create KNOWLEDGE, to prove a hypothesis through the collection of FACTS and DATA. Can Mankind rule itself Justly and in PEACE? After 240 years… we have that KNOWLEDGE. We now have that DATA. That shared experience is our COMMON BOND… that is the GIFT that we’ve been given.

The time now comes for us to decide… what is it that we will leave behind for our grandchildren. Let it be no flash of political passions that leads us to cast aside UNION, hard fought and battle won. Let us learn from our Forefathers and elevate the ERRORS that they have made. Let their example guide us, so we will not repeat their mistakes.

Today, we take for granted that which they did not have! They did not know it was possible… all they had was FAITH, and a firm belief in the inherent good that can come from a STRONG UNION.

We now know the answer… today, we stand as proof.
